Product Care

Brass

Brass is polished in the making process; we recommend using a soft cloth to polish and retain the items beauty. Very occasionally (maybe once a year) you may decide to use a small amount of natural furniture polish, which must not contain silicone, to give the item more lustre but in our opinion the natural patina gives the item more beauty as time passes. Simply relax and enjoy! You only need to lightly dust with a soft cloth and the item will remain an object of beauty.

Glass – Vases and Lighting

Objet Luxe Glass vases and pendant lights are handmade and blown in the traditional way. It will last for many years and retain its original beauty with the minimum amount of need to clean. We recommend occasional wiping of the surface with a damp (not soaked) soft clean cloth or cotton wool and then blot dry using soft paper towelling and leave to thoroughly air dry. Only clean one item at a time, remove jewellery and rings that could scratch the glass during the cleaning process and never use detergents. If your glass has any metal mounts, avoid getting water in crevices where it may cause corrosion. Silver mounts may have been lacquered to prevent tarnishing, so avoid using solvents when cleaning.

Gold

We silver and gold plate onto solid brass and then lacquer to give a long lasting durable finish that protects against tarnishing and prevents over-polishing, this in turn maintains the original beauty of each item. You only need to lightly dust with a soft cloth and the item will remain an object of beauty.

Mother of Pearl

Our Mother of Pearl shells are polished and lightly lacquered to protect their natural beauty. We recommend a gentle dusting to care for the plates. Please do not use chemicals or abrasive cleaning agents on these delicate items. You only need to lightly dust with a soft cloth and the item will remain an object of beauty.

Pewter

Pewter does not tarnish like unlacquered silver, so a periodic clean with an all-purpose metal polish will keep it looking bright (do not use silver polish). For general cleaning it is sufficient to gently wipe the item with a clean damp cloth and let it air dry.

Porcelain – Glazed

To clean glazed porcelain items always remember that they are fragile so handle with care and only one at a time.
First, remove any dust with a dry cloth. Microfibre material is the best as the negative charge helps pull away dust from the surface instead of moving it around the vase or ornament. Do not wash the item.
