Product Care & Maintenance Guidelines

Objet Luxe products are handcrafted luxury items made from fine materials, including gold plating, silver plating, rhodium plating, solid brass, bronze, mouth-blown glass, porcelain, shagreen, and hand-cut natural shells. With proper care and maintenance, your pieces will retain their beauty and lustre for generations.

Brass & Bronze

Brass and bronze pieces should simply be lightly dusted with a soft, dry cloth.

Crystal Glassware

No two pieces of crystal glassware are ever exactly alike due to the handmade nature of the items. Please do not use a dishwasher for cleaning crystal glass. Hand wash immediately after use with a soft sponge, mild soap, and warm water. Dry immediately with a soft cloth to avoid spots. Do not soak or leave unwashed overnight. Avoid detergents or mild soaps containing lemon or other acidic agents. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads, as these can scratch the glass. For items that are painted, gilded or have a colour overlay, avoid prolonged contact with acidic or chemically reactive foods and liquids, including citrus, vinegar and similar substances, as these may damage the exterior decoration.

Glass – Vases and Lighting

Objet Luxe glass vases and pendant lights are handmade and blown in the traditional way. They will last for many years and retain their original beauty with minimal need for cleaning. We recommend occasional wiping of the surface with a damp, not soaked, soft clean cloth or cotton wool, then blotting dry using soft paper towelling and allowing the item to air dry thoroughly. Do not use detergents or abrasive cleaning products. If your glass has any metal mounts, avoid getting water into crevices where it may cause corrosion. Silver mounts may have been lacquered to prevent tarnishing, so avoid using solvents when cleaning.

Gold & Silver

We silver-plate and gold-plate onto solid brass and then apply a protective lacquer to provide a durable finish that helps protect against tarnishing and prevents over-polishing, maintaining the original beauty of each item. You only need to lightly dust with a soft cloth. Do not use metal polishes, silver dips, solvents, or abrasive cleaners on lacquered gold or silver items, as these may damage or remove the protective lacquer coating. Protect items from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme UV rays, and outdoor salt spray.

Natural Shell & Mother of Pearl

Objet Luxe shell, mother-of-pearl and shell mosaic pieces are carefully finished and, where appropriate, protected with a lacquer coating to help preserve their natural iridescence and lustre. As natural organic materials, shells are inherently non-uniform, featuring subtle variations in colour, tone, pattern, texture, and surface finish. These natural characteristics contribute to the individuality and uniqueness of each handcrafted piece. We recommend gentle dusting with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning agents, and avoid scratching the surface.
Important Warning: Shell and mother-of-pearl surfaces should not come into contact with acidic substances, such as citrus juices, vinegar, wine, or acidic cleaning products, as these can etch, stain or discolour natural shells.

Porcelain

Our porcelain pieces are decorative and should be handled with care. Remove dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Unless specifically stated otherwise, do not immerse or soak porcelain pieces in water and avoid detergents and abrasive cleaning products.

Rhodium Plated Items

Select Objet Luxe pieces, such as our signature Pufferfish Cocktail Stick Holder, are finished with premium rhodium plating for a brilliant, liquid-silver sheen. Unlike our standard silver-plated items, rhodium-plated items do not feature a protective lacquer coating. They require only gentle cleaning and occasional polishing to maintain their high-shine lustre.

• Routine Polishing: Gently wipe with a soft, non-abrasive anti-tarnish silver polishing cloth when required.
• Metal Polish: For deeper maintenance, apply a small amount of fine metal polish—such as GLANOL® Metal Polish or WENOL® Metal Polish—using a soft cotton cloth, then buff to a mirror finish.
• Food Safety Note: If the item is used with food or cocktail sticks, ensure that all polishing residue is completely removed before use.

To preserve the finish, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, intense UV radiation, and outdoor salt spray.

Shagreen

Shagreen requires minimal care. Keep the surface dry and avoid contact with water, oils, perfumes and cleaning products, which may stain or damage the skin. Protect shagreen from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause fading and may cause the skin to dry or contract. Avoid extreme temperatures and excessive humidity. Lightly dust with a soft, dry cloth when required.

Marine, Yacht & Coastal Environment Care

Objet Luxe pieces are designed for luxury interiors, including coastal homes and yacht interiors. As with all fine decorative objects, they are best protected from direct salt spray, seawater and prolonged outdoor exposure to preserve their beautiful finishes.
