Incalmo Bowl – Midnight

Incalmo means to graft. The Incalmo bowl is a perfect example of this glass work technique of fusing two separate bubbles of hot glass together to create one. The process of joining the hot bubbles technically challenging as both pieces must be exactly the same size. The end result is fantastic, as colours fuse and mingle together to create individual pieces.

Description

The Incalmo technique of glassblowing was developed in Italy in the 15th century; the word Incalmo comes from the Venetian dialect which means ‘graft’. The process of fusing the hot bubbles of glass to create a single bubble is technically challenging and requires great skill and accuracy, as both bubbles must be exactly the same size.
